This month Kate is enjoying her well-earned honeymoon so here are the current updates for this month:
We want to encourage people to attend the CPD day in The Village Hotel, Elstree on Monday 27 February. This will be perfect for people working in Trauma and Orthopaedics, A+E and GP, but all are welcome and encouraged to get some high level CPD.
There is a parallel session for new grads which will cover the big question of starting work and a forum to discuss any concerns. This session is specifically for graduates so please let Amanda know if you would like to attend that session only (free) or the full day. (amanda.swann@rnoh.nhs.uk) There are details on the UKAPA Facebook page and forum.
One of the big tasks for UKAPA is working on the revalidation exam process. The first cohort is approaching their exam and we are working with the NCCPA in the USA to get this up and running for January 2014. If you have any queries about revalidation and you are due to sit this exam in the first cohort then please contact either Joel Grey (jgrey@sgul.ac.uk), Kate (kate.straughton@gmail.com) or me (amygreen83@live.co.uk).
UKAPA are working closely with Germany and Holland in the EURO-PA committee and we are looking for UKAPA members to be part of the joint committee. If you would like to be nominated then please email Lori (lorrywilliams@googlemail.com). The first meeting is scheduled in London for 30–31 March 2012.
Finally, we really need all PAs based in Primary Care to join the GP Foundation, as affiliate members of the RCGP. We have lots of support from the College but numbers really speak volumes. Please contact them about joining so we can show that PAs need a voice in primary care. (Please find information and the link to register at: http://www.rcgp-foundation.org.uk/).
Next update will be from Kate in March. See you at Elstree!
Cheers,
Amy Green
UKAPA Vice–President 2011-12
